Atlético Madrid defender Diego Godín spoke about his side’s defeat against Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League.
Analysis: “We played the end of the match with one man less but overall they created enough chances. We didn’t get a great result but it could have been worse, the tie is still alive. We have to play at the Calderón and do things well there.”
Leverkusen: “They have a lot of fast players and at times they played well.”
Performance without the ball: “I think we missed the intensity that we usually have without the ball and in the game. We are not a team that plays with a great fluidity with the ball but we are fortunate in the way we play without it.”
Intensity: “The opponent also played, but it was easy. They played well, we would have liked to have played better but we couldn’t.”
Calderón: “This is the Champions League, we are in the last 16 and it is not going to be easy. Our intention is to work very hard on home soil and turn things around in the second leg. We’re confident we’ll be able to do that.”
