Simeone: "It could have been worse"

Diego Simeone spoke to Canal Plus after his side’s defeat at Bayer Leverkusen.

Unrecognisable: “It was a strange game, neither of the teams created that many chances. We had one at the end of the first half that we didn’t manage to take and they had some in the second half. I’m happy, having made two changes in the first half, the disallowed goal, and we only lost 1-0. It could have been worse.”

Outfought by Bayer: “They have a similar game to us, they press very hard to retrieve the ball when they lose it.”

No Tiago or Godín in the second leg: “It’s not a problem, Giménez or Mario will come in.”
