"We’ve had one bad result; our form hasn't been that bad"

Toni Kroos appeared relaxed and in good spirits as he answered questions from the media in this evening’s pre-match press conference ahead of tomorrow’s meeting with Schalke 04.

Have you primed your team mates about what atmosphere to expect here in the Ruhr part of Germany?

I can’t really answer that. I don’t know anything about the Ruhr region because when I was playing Germany, I signed for a club from the north then joined a club from the south, sorry.

What does this game mean to you?

It will be a special game for me and a nice experience because I’ve come back home to Germany as a Real Madrid player. I remember all of the games I played here with Bayern; we gained some good results and I hope we can repeat that tomorrow.

The team has been struggling to reach the form they showed before Christmas, is that down to fatigue?

We had one bad result, against Atlético but that’s all - apart from that, our form hasn't been so bad. That has been what has caused the negativity surrounding the team recently. We have three or four players out injured but it’s not as though we haven’t any alternatives; we’ll continue to keep going forward. Personally, I feel fine – I’m not tired at all.

How have you been adapting to the Spanish game and how are you coping with the language?

Moving to a foreign league is always a completely new experience. First you have to start learning the language then you have to handle other things which are also new. Adapting isn’t just about how you perform out on the pitch. The club has been helping me a lot and I’ve noticed that I have really come on in learning the language – it makes communicating with your team mates easier. Every day I feel a little closer to being fully settled in. On the sporting side of things, my position at Madrid is a little more defensive but I’m getting used to it – I’ve been playing in that position for seven months now.

Do you see Madrid capable of repeating that 6-1 scoreline from last season?

It was a bit of a surreal result and it would be difficult to repeat it – the result important - what matters is making it to the next round.
