Luis Enrique: "This result has hurt us; it was deserved"

His analysis of the match: “We can separate the first half from the second. In the firsrt half we were fine, more or less. The opposition took advantage of a mistake that we made but there was order and balance. In the second half we were not great individually or collectively. There was no balance. It was no tour day.”

On the defeat: “The result hurts but Málaga played well, they had the right approach."

An accident?: “"We are used to these types of game. I would like it to be an accident, but it is normal that teams come here and close up. These results are good for making you realise that opponents also have their merits and quality. I would go as far to say this defeat was deserved.”

Balance and impatience: "We found it difficult to make chances. There was disorganisation. Order is basic to win games, and we spoke about balance during half-time. With 20 minutes left, it seemed time was almost up and we had to launch bombs forward. We were not good in one-on-ones."

Alves: "This is a game of mistakes and good moves. The whole team is to blame. When we do well we are all together, and the same when we slip up. “

The impact on the City match: “When we lose it hurts and it's tough to leave behind, but we'll try to be the same-old Barça in Manchester. The sooner the next match the better. It's the best way to forget about the last one.”

Messi: “We never individualise, and especially not after a defeat. The responsibility is for everyone. Me first.”

Xavi: “I use the players how I want to and when I feel necessary. In Manchester we’ll see.”

La Liga title race: “Whoever has the most points at the end will win the league. We'll see who that is. There's a lot of league left.”
