Jorge Mendes spoke to ESPNDeportes.com and discussed several issues, including Radamel Falcao’s loan spell at Manchester United and the presence of investment funds in football.
Falcao: “He didn’t make a mistake when he chose Monaco. He is a champion. I miss Ferguson at Manchester United. With him and this squad the situation would be different. I know that if they give Falcao five complete matches, I am convinced that he would score goals in practically all of those matches. If Falcao does not stay in Manchester, he will be at one of the other five or six best teams in the world.”
Di Maria: “He was at Real Madrid and wanted to go to another of the world’s best teams; now he is and he is happy.”
Representing Leo Messi: "No, he is very well represented by his father.”
More power than Blatter: “No, I am an agent and a person like any other.”
Millionaires in football: “There is a very big crisis in the world and these people saved football. We have to say thanks to Abramovich, Sheikh Mansour, PSG’s Nasser Al-Khelaifi, Monaco’s Dmitry Rybolovlev and Peter Lim, who is now at Valencia. Do you know how those clubs were before they arrived? Just ask the fans if they want to be how they were before they arrived, fighting, in some cases, to not go down.”
Investment funds: “There are players that could improve their living conditions, that could play in clubs that would pay them more, but they can’t do it. If you do not go to the big clubs or those that have money, you do not have opportunities to improve, because they have limitations and it is an injustice. People want to create a dark image of the investment funds, but it’s not like so, the clubs have the need to be able to fund signings and the investment funds help. Financial Fair Play makes no sense. I know people from some of the investment funds and they are victims of UEFA and FIFA.”
