"However many knocks we take we have to get back up"

Rayo's Adrián Embarba expressed the team's disappointment at the 6-1 thrashing suffered in Balaídos at the hands of a rampant Celta Vigo on Saturday night. The midfielder said Paco Jémez's side will have to be "strong at home" in order to meet the season's objective of finishing in the top 10.

The Rayo youth team product, who has started the past four matches, provided the assist for Manucho to open the scoring after just 23 seconds, which turned out to be one of the swiftest consolation goals ever netted.

"We couldn't have got off to a better start, but they were better than us and the scoreline reflects that. They managed the game better, they were able to take advantage of the fact that in the second half we let our heads drop," noted Embarba, who added the humbling "is already forgotten."

"However many knocks we take we have to get back up, continue to work hard and think about the next match. At home we can't allow any more dropped points, we have to be strong. We have to win the next game and erase the previous result," Embarba said in an interview with the club's official website.

Defender Zé Castro was more critical and admitted Celta were "much better" than Rayo on the night in all aspects of the game. "They were superior, they were better than us individually and collectively. Rayo always try to take the game to other teams but they were just much better than us," said the Portuguese. "6-1 is a result that will stay with us of course, but at the end of the season it's all about looking at how many defeats and victories you have. We're not going to dwell on this. We have to win the next match, get as many points as possible and see where we are at the end of the season. We're going to try and improve and win our next fixture."
