Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti was able to oversee Thursday’s training session with Luka Modric, Gareth Bale and Marcelo all back from international duty with their respective national teams. Madrid’s penultimate workout before Saturday’s local derby against Atlético was centred on intense physical activity and ballwork.
As always Villiam Vechhi took the three goalkeepers to one side to train apart during an hour-long session which was closed to the media. The only players unable to take part were Dani Carvajal, Sami Khedira and Jesé who remain out on Madrid’s casualty list.
