Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema have formed a frightening partnership at Real Madrid, and not just for the goals to which onlookers are accustomed. They have also become handy assistants, not least between each other: Since they started to play together in 2009, Ronaldo and Benzema have provided 40 goal-scoring assists between themselves. Against Granada, Benzema laid on the first for his teammate and Ronaldo gifted the Frenchman the third with an impertinent back-heel.
That was the 15th assist Ronaldo has provided for Benzema, and the France forward is his favoured recipient so far this season with three. Benzema, meanwhile, has teed up 25 strikes for the Portugal captain since he signed for Real Madrid; only chief assister Mesut Özil has set up more for the prolific number seven: 27 during the Germany midfielder's time at the Bernabéu.
If the rate of assists between the two players is notable, the number of goals they are scoring is more so still. Ronaldo has already banged in 22 so far this season, with 17 in the league, three in Europe and two in the Spanish Supercup. He is the league's top scorer at this stage of the 2014-15 season and a real headache for defenders, with 50 strikes in the calendar year; 46 for Madrid and four for Portugal.
Benzema has rattled in nine so far for his club, five in the league and four in the Champions League.
