Atlético in negotiation with Milan for Torres return

Atlético have commenced negotiations with AC Milan that could see Fernando Torres return to the Calderon with Italian player, Allesio Cerci being a key figure in the operation going ahead. The return of the former Torino player to Serie A could see the door open to Torres. However Cerci is keen to move to Milan but has expressed his desire top lay for the city’s other team, Internazionale.

Chelsea were happy to let Torres go out on loan to Milan for two seasons and the same would apply for a move to the Spanish capital. Mourinho will not stand in the way of the potential move. His departure from Stamford Bridge was cordial and there are those that feel the Portuguese coach would have liked to retain the Spanish player at Chelsea. The 12th of December was the date when the situation started to move with Simeone requesting a forward to his Sporting Directors. Shaqiri, Podolski and Kramaric were on the first tentative wish list along with Cholo’s, first choice, that of Fernando Torres.

Simeone feels that Torres would offer a dynamic that would complement Mandzukic and would see the team echo a style that was so successful for the side last season. It’s felt that Torres’ style of play is similar to that of Diego Costa and the team would adapt easily to the Spanish international in the line-up. Tactically there are no problems and the economic aspect is now the hurdle for the operation to advance. Torres is keen to make the move and will do what is needed economically to make the loan viable. In theory the operation could see all parties happy. Inzaghi is set to lose Honda, when he leaves to play for Japan in the Asian Cup and Torres didn’t enter into his game plan. Securing Cerci’s services is something that Inzaghi is keen on too. Atlético stand to secure the return of their “prodigal son” during one of their finest sporting hours.
