Bale, Real Madrid and Manchester United

It appears certain that Manchester United want Bale and are prepared to make a serious effort to secure his services. Another issue is whether the player is willing to study the offer and thirdly if Madrid would accept it. The matter has divided the fan base and it has introduced a debate which could disrupt the traditionally quiet days over Christmas which sees the squad on holiday resting after their titles and victories. The ongoing rumours which we’ve been hearing for some time now over a possible arrival of Reus to be added to the attacking line-up, could be a factor in an exit for Bale. There are those who see the pros and cons to this situation.

Bale is an extremely gifted footballer. He’s in great physical shape and has a prodigious left foot. His problem in Madrid is that he’s being played out of position, although he masks this well by his goal scoring prowess. He’s not at the heart of the team but fits in well. But he’s a lad who tends to look for refuge with the other English speakers in the squad (and this is totally understandable) and has shown little interest in picking up the language (Beckham left Madrid after four years unable to speak Spanish) and this doesn’t help him.

Madrid could cash in on him and at the same time bring in Reus, but am not sure if this would be for the best, and less so for him. Looking at this objectively, leaving Madrid doesn’t always work out well, except for the substitute players as was the case of Diego López, Albiol or Callejón. The same can’t be said for Özil, Di María or even Higuaín. Time will tell also, on how Xabi Alonso fares in Germany. There is only one Real Madrid. And there is only one Gareth Bale, who could take things to the next level in his adaptation at the club with just a little more effort from both parties. And with all this going on, it just remains for me to wish you all a Happy Christmas.
