Luka Modric should be fit by late January

There was an air of pessimism on November 18th when the results of the tests that Modric underwent came through: "a tear of the left proximal rectus femoris tendon has been found”. The team would be without one of their key players for some time. Some experts’ talked about four month’s absence from the field of play. However, the reports are good. Modric’s smile and his hugs with Ancelotti in Marrakesh son Saturday are a sign of the optimism shared by player and coach. The injury is healing well and if all goes according to plan, Modric will be available for selection as of the end of January.

There is no doubt that the player should be in the starting eleven for the game against Schalke 04 on February 18th. The injury recovery process has gone quicker than planned. Help from his colleagues and medical staff at the club too have been factors that have helped Modric through this difficult time. Luka has been a “perfect patient” say the club doctors. Ancelotti will not take any risks, but is more than happy with the information coming through from his medical team surrounding one of the squad’s most important players.
