"Valencia can qualify for the Champions League"

Mario Alberto Kempes, ex Valencia player and club legend is confident that his old club are capable of keeping their level of form up and is convinced that his ex team will qualify for next seasons Champions League competition.

Valencia just need to worry about Valencia. If they can keep this level up they will qualify for next seasons Champions League. They need to believe in themselves and I’m sure that with the great spirit at the club currently, they can achieve this objective", he added.

The current international ambassador for his former team acknowledged that Sevilla, Villarreal and Málaga are the clubs who stand in the way of Valencia in order to secure their Champions League place.

"It’s true that a gap is emerging between the top three teams and the rest, but the season is long, what more, Valencia only have the league and Copa del Rey to focus on so it’s feasible that they will be in good shape coming into the final and crucial phase of the league campaign", he furthered.

"They have a great starting eleven and a bench full of quality players so we need to aspire to a top four place. Bit by bit we can see the style of play that Nuno is implementing after a recent dip", he continued.

Kempes, was a World Cup winner and top goalscorer at the 1978 competition held in his native Argentina and is now fully recovered from his recent and complicated heart bypass which he underwent in September of this year.

"I’m feeling good and I thank God that the operation went ahead and I can have a happy end to the year. I’m happy with my work at ESPN and am always keen to go back to visit the city of Valencia", he concluded.
