"The white shirts of Germany and Real Madrid dominate the team", said L'Équipe personnel in their official presentation of their ideal XI for 2014. Madrid’s Champions League triumph and Germany’s World Cup triumph in Brazil were clear factors in determining the voting by L’Equipe readers.
The ideal 2014 team includes: Cristiano, Ramos, Di María and Xabi Alonso, all who played a role in the Lisbon victory along with German internationals: Neuer, Lahm, Hummels and Kroos.
The team is completed by Bayern Munich left back, David Alaba and by Barça’s, Leo Messi and Brazilian, Neymar.
Team-wise, Bayern have four included representatives, three from Real Madrid, two from Barcelona and one from Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund. Four German players are included; Spain and Argentina have two representatives with Portugal, Austria and Brazil completing the line-up with one representative each.
