Lucas Silva's team-mates: "He is going to Madrid"

The anxiety to cross the pond and sign for Madrid becomes increasingly evident in Lucas Silva. His team-mates at Cruzeiro, those who know him best, confirm he is all set on the idea. “Being able to play for a team like Real Madrid is the dream of any player,” said his team-mate Mayke, who has played alongside the midfielder for four years. “We know he will go, but he still can’t imagine it.”

The striker Borges also had praise for the Brazilian youngster. He says he should be able to fit in to the Madrid squad well and says it is a case of when, and not if, revealing that the dressing room is waiting on the day the transfer becomes official. “Lucas has it all to play for with Madrid, we are waiting for it to happen as soon as possible. He is a midfielder who presses well, moves the ball well, has a lot of quality in passing the ball and is a good finisher.”

Finally, Everton Ribeiro, who plays alongside Lucas Silva in midfielder with the Brazilian champions, also praised his team-mate: “Real Madrid is a great club and Lucas is a great player, they both fit well. Lucas has progressed a lot with Cruzeiro in these last two years and the time is now to go and grow in Europe.”

Today he will play at the Mineirao against Fluminense

Lucas Silva will play in his last game of 2015 today. Cruzeiro, the Brazilian champions, will face Fluminense at the Mineirao. The match kicks-off at 17:00 CET. After the match, the Cruzeiro playing staff will go on holiday for a month. In Brazil they are convinced that in the coming hours a deal finalising the player’s move to Madrid could be confirmed. In addition, the match this afternoon could become a tribute to Lucas Silva, although it appears he could remain at the club on loan until the end of the season, so it would not be his final match with his current club.
