Barcelona came out for training on pitch number one at the Ciutat Esportiva this morning, half an hour later than expected. The official reason was that the players were “watching a video to finish the preparations for the game against Atlético”.
This week hasn’t been the calmest at the Camp Nou, in spite of the 5-0 rout of Elche in the Copa del Rey on Thursday night. The problems between Luis Enrique and Leo Messi together with the majority of the squad have led to tumultuous recent days at the club - close to a full-blown institutional crisis, with the issues leading to the calling of elections to be held in June.
Once training finally got underway it could be seen that Xavi was training on his own. Luis Enrique, in his press conference after the session, confirmed that he will miss the Atleti game on Sunday with a muscle strain.
Apart from Xavi, Luis Enrique had his whole squad available, as well as Munir, from Barcelona B, who appears to be in the coach’s plans.
