Cruzeiro confirm transfer of Lucas Silva to Real Madrid

Brazilian Serie A club Cruzeiro on Friday officially confirmed the transfer of Lucas Silva to Real Madrid . Cruzeiro president Gilvan de Pinho Tavares said in a press conference that a deal between the two parties had been struck and that the final details would be hammered out during the day. Real will be asked to pay 14 million euros for the midfielder, although Cruzeiro did not confirm the fee. Tavares revealed that Silva had "pressurized" the club into agreeing to sell.

Cruzeiro initially asked for 15 million euros for the 21-year-old, who was included in the Brazilian top flight's team of the year in 2014 as the best defensive midfielder in the division. Silva, a product of the club's academy, has won the Brazilian championship in 2013 and 2014 while at Cruzeiro, but has yet to receive a call-up to the senior national team.
