“We’ll have to see what's best for the players and the team”

Cholo Simeone spoke at a press conference ahead of Atlético’s forthcoming game against Rayo in the Vicente Calderón (Saturday, 20:00 CET).

Rayo. “Everyone has their own style. They’ve been in good form away from home and they will ensure it’s a good game with intensity, which will benefit us. They are brave side that is quick and combine well in the attacking third. Hopefully we’ll respond to the game we have in front of us."

Players rested. “We’ll aim to start with those players in the best shape for such an important game. Tomorrow at midday we’ll inform them of the formation.”

The Miranda-Giménez pairing in Godín’s absence. “I have an idea based on their individual performances, both Miranda in Barcelona and Giménez, who has been developing. I don’t know if they’ll play together, but hopefully they can join their individual performances with collective ones.”

Second leg of the cup. "We have to go game by game, trying to grow.”

Raúl Jiménez or Correa. “We’ll have to see what is best for the players and the team.”

Cani. “He’ll definitely be in the squad. He’s growing, and had been training individually. He’s been with us for three weeks and at some point he’ll be in the side or featuring in order to take advantage of his talent.”
