Mou: “Madrid and Barça aren’t favourites, there are 16 equals”

José Mourinho spoke in the pre-match press conference before Chelsea’s first leg Champions League match against PSG.

He confirmed that Diego Costa would start but admitted the player is “not in the best condition”. He also said he didn’t know if “Cech or Courtois” would start, but that Chelsea had “two of the best keepers in the Champions League”.

Asked whether the favourites for the title were the two big Spanish sides he was blunt: “Neither Real Madrid nor Barcelona are favourites to win the Champions League. There are 16 equal candidates”. Whether Mourinho really believes his Chelsea side are equal to all others in the tournament is another matter.
