“A 0-0 leaves the tie wide open, it ensures a great second leg and I think both teams still have a chance to progress. We hope that the fact we’re at home will mean we put in a good performance and progress in the tie,” said Iker Casillas, the Real Madrid captain, after Tuesday night’s Champions League stalemate with Atlético Madrid at the Vicente Calderón.
On the referee: “For me I think his performance was fine. If we have to analyse every play it might be harder. We competed intensely. The referee was not the centre of attention, I think he was fair for both teams.”
Oblak’s performance: “He was the hero in the first half. We deserved more. He has been fantastic. Then in the second half Atlético calmed things down, didn’t allow us much and controlled things better.”
Marcelo’s suspension: “It is a big loss but we have players waiting to fill in for him. We don’t like that we’ll be without him but that’s how it is.”
The importance of the match next Wednesday: “The season passes with every game, not only next Wednesday. In the league we must beat Málaga and wait to see how Barça do.”
On his future: “I want to stay until 2017, when my contract ends. I want to end my career at Real Madrid.”
