Manchester City’s Spanish international David Silva had to be stretchered off during his side’s league win over West Ham this afternoon after receiving a heavy blow to the face from Cheikhou Kouyaté.
With his side 2-0 up in the 68th minute, Silva fell to the ground following a heavy challenge. He was treated by the club’s medical team on the pitch for seven minutes before regaining consciousness and being carried off on a stretcher with a neck brace and an oxygen mask.
By this time, Pellegrini’s men had already wrapped up the game. The three points strengthen City’s grip on fourth place and the final Champions League spot.
James Collins handed the hosts their opener with an own goal in the 18th minute and Kun Aguero added a second on the counter-attack in the 36th. The Argentine is now the Premier League’s leading goal scorer with 20.
