David Silva accompanied Dani Carvajal in today’s press conference with both players looking ahead to Monday’s EURO 2016 qualifier against Macedonia. The Manchester City player voiced his dismay at Diego Costa’s injury, telling reporters, “I’ve spoken with Diego and fortunately, it’s nothing serious. These things happen in football”. Silva also spoke about new recruit, Munir: “He will bring a lot of enthusiasm – like everyone who comes here to defend the Spain shirt. He’s a great player, he is doing well and that’s why he has been called up by the national side. I’m sure that he cannot wait to make his debut and put in a good game”.
Spain’s style: “With the kind of football we play, we have won two European championships and the World Cup - I don’t see any need to change our style. We have players like Cesc, Iniesta, Cazorla and others who know what Spain has achieved with our formula. The new players will gradually start adapting and we will improve in terms of possession and passing. New players have been brought on board and all of us need to adapt”.
Strikers: “We will eventually start connecting with Diego Costa because he is a great striker”.
Macedonia: “I’ve played against Macedonia before and I know that it won’t be easy. They are a very well-organised side”.
