Cerdà confirms "four proposals" for Marco Asensio

Retaining their new star at all costs. This is the obsession and the objective of Mallorca to keep Marco Asensio for the whole season and not sell him in the winter transfer window. The organisation has received several offers from clubs and investment funds who are interested in acquiring the pearl of the club’s youth system. Some of the proposals are being dealt with directly by Biel Cerdà, the club’s president, who yesterday admitted interest from “various people” in signing Asensio.

“It is a matter that we have to study well, because this kid wants to play in a team in the top division, but has a very weak contract and if it runs on Mallorca would not receive anything. We must try and keep him this season and not think about the cancellation [of his contract] until the end of the year and that he can remain, at least, for one more. The trouble is that his agent is threatening to challenge his contract,” said Cerdà. Asked by AS, Horacio Gagglioli, the player’s agent, said he has no intention of doing so, while Cerdà gave more details: “There are four proposals from people interested in Marco Asensio. Two clubs and two investment funds. If we did a background check of the conditions he would not be going.” Gagglioni also denied he would be joining an investment fund.

Mallorca named director general Juan Barrios and Annette Claasen, wife of director Utz Claasen, as representatives.
