Florentino Pérez, Real Madrid’s president, chaired the presentation of a deal that sees the club tie-up a sponsorship deal with the company IPIC (International Petroleum Investment Company) today in the Bernabéu. The money raised from the deal will be used, among other things, for the renovation of the Santiago Bernabéu stadium.
The presentation, which was attended by the first team squad and Carlo Ancelotti, along with representatives from the Abu Dhabi company, saw Pérez explain the benefits behind the agreement, which will initially run for five years, for the club.
“Like La Décima obliges us to look towards La Undécima, we also want to achive the best club in the 21st century, as we did in the 20th century. This is a strategic deal to help the club aspire to this. ...the commercial arrangements will enable Real Madrid to meet one of its most fundamental future challenges, to convert the Santiago Bernabéu into the best sporting venue in the world,” Florentino said. He added: “This alliance will also strengthen the club's heritage. It will help develop the Museum in such a way that Real Madrid can hold international exhibitions so that fans are able to see the Museum's contents wherever they may be.”
Meanwhile, IPIC CEO Khadem Abdulla Al Qubaisi, explained that the partnership “will allow Real Madrid's epic football to reach the whole world. It will allow the club to globalise its assets and legacy. We also share the vision of turning this stadium into a venue of sporting excellence”. He went on to say it would “also extend the ethics of the club through their schools”.
