The French Football Federation (FFF) today reiterated its support for Zinedine Zidane , who has been banned from coaching in Spain with Real Madrid Castilla for not having the correct qualifications, while passing on to their Spanish counterparts the documentation showing that he has followed the correct course to become a coach.
“The FFF provides support for Zidane following the decision of the Spanish Football Federation to punish him for not having the necessary coaching qualification,” the body said in a statement.
The president of the FFF, Noël Le Graët, considered it "harmful to European football that such an iconic player like Zidane, who has decided to follow the French coach training, recognised throughout the world, cannot work in his office as UEFA allows ".
According to the FFF, the three-month sentence imposed on Zizou is also a “decision to punish the French training course" for coaches.
It also said that "UEFA regulations allow a coach that has taken this to ply their trade."
The National Technical Director of the FFF "sent to the Spanish Federation all elements to attest that Zidane followed with professionalism and diligence all the training modules".
Zidane was sanctioned by the Single Judge of Competition in the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) for coaching Real Madrid Castilla, in Segunda División B, without the required qualifications, following a complaint filed by a school of coaches. The three-month suspension can be appealed to the Appeals Committee.
