Blanco and Villar, the accounts and the ultras

Alejandro Blanco has received, in his attack on Cardenal, a letter of support from the Football Federation. A vicious alliance. The two agree on a tricky little formulation: sport is sovereign, we rely on supranational entities, the IOC or FIFA, and that interventionism is emasculating. But if the government gives money to federations, they also give them the name and the representation of the country, and they are obliged to check their accounts. Only that. And it is not intended to impose upon this or on another coach, nor the calendar nor the stage of a final. This is only to check the proper use of everyone’s money.

There is a visible border between the necessary sovereignty of each federation in their sport and the management which makes their money. And it’s there that Cardenal and Blanco have collided, because the former is obliged to monitor the use of money that belongs to everyone and Alejandro Blanco pretends to be a broody hen, pecking at him as he approaches his eggs. The list of gala winners reflected little sensitivity regarding the use of the money. The intention of awarding the archery president (who was suspended for six months for his ‘distracted’ management) was scandalous. The award to the hunting president was unseemly.

That claim to control public money made Cardenal and Villar clash not long ago, on the poor justification of the 1% of the pools, which is dedicated to the construction of pitches. And from there begun the anger of Villar toward his former friend Cardenal, anger that, in his confusion, has led him to position himself on the issue of ultras. We have not seen him in a meeting, nor in a statement. Now, he and Blanco are taken from the arm to denounce ‘interventionism’ in search of protection from Papa IOC and Mama FIFA. Very bad. Because we speak of accounts and ultras, not of interference.
