Marrakesh invaded by a sea of red and blue

There was a spectacular atmosphere outside the Stade du Marrakech last night as the 5.000 San Lorenzo fans chanted “We are going to be champions”, during they game never stopped for a second from supporting their side. Although there are plenty of Real Madrid fans in Morocco, as many as 8.000 San Lorenzo fans are expected to attend Saturday’s final.

The sea of red and blue was visible from early morning as fans arrived at the airport, train and bus stations. The famous Marrakesh square of Jamaa El-Fna became the focal meeting point as supporters held pictures aloft of Pope Francis (a self confessed fan of El Ciclon). Most fans had made the 9.000 kilometer trip that separates Marrakesh from Buenos Aires, a 16 hour journey.
