Andres Iniesta paid a visit to the Barça TV studios after the win over Cordoba to discuss the match and the team’s performances in the first half of the season.
The victory: “We achieved our goal and now we can spend a few days with our families. We need to stay focused though. We’ll recharge and come back hungry in the New Year.”
The performances: “I think that we’re getting better in all aspects of our play. We want to build on that in the second half of the season and keep improving. Hopefully we can stay fit and continue to enjoy what we do, that’s what wins titles. Training well is also important. If we keep doing that we’ll be in with a shot of winning trophies, which is what we’re all working towards.”
Doubts: “We need to look beyond the next game and the next three points. We need to believe in what we’re doing and look at how we can improve as a team. The key is to have a goal and to be enthusiastic.”
Improving in defence: “We work on everything, on both defence and attack. If we don’t concede goals we’ll be in a strong position because with the players we have we can always score goals. Striking a balance is important. It’s down to all of us to ensure that we work hard and get better.”
His role in the team: “I feel important here. I feel respected by those around me and I work hard every day to repay them. I want to do my bit to help us win titles and to silence the outside critics.”
