The 2-0 victory over San Lorenzo in Morocco on Saturday night ensured Real Madrid lifted their first ever Club World Cup. It is also their 18th international title, a number that only two other teams in Europe and South American have reached: AC Milan and Boca Juniors.
It means Madrid moves second in the rankings for international titles with only Egyptian side Al-Ahly above them with 20 titles, although many of them were achieved with less difficulty and carry less prestige than those at stake in Europe and South America.
Madrid have reached the figure through winning ten European Cups, one Club World Cup, two UEFA Cups, three Intercontinental Cups and two European Super Cups. Below these three teams (Madrid, Milan and Boca) are Independiente (Argentina) with 16 and Barcelona with 14.
