Simeone: "A huge 2014 has come to a close"

What did you make of your team’s performance?

It was a game that changed a lot. It was a great first half for Athletic, who played with a lot of intensity and won all the individual duels. It was a bad first half from us, great for them and they could have won the game. Aduriz could have killed us. The second half was different. The team reacted well after the break. The spaces appeared and we began to win the things we lost in the first half.

What did you make of the atmosphere at San Mamés?

As I always say, to come here is extraordinary. They are supporters who always stick with their team. Congratulations to everyone who was on the pitch.

What did you think about the referee?

I do not usually talk about referees. The other day there was an episode which did not favour us, and I did not talk then either.

Griezmann was the star...

In the first half he could not find a way to help out the team, but the second half was just the opposite. He was fabulous. He is a player we need, that we went looking for. We are very happy for him, as we trust a lot in his characteristics and we need him. This will be good for his confidence. It shows his work is paying off for him. He gives us something different. Hopefully it will stay that way.

How do you rate 2014 and what do you hope for in 2015?
