Reports in the UK continue to link Chelsea manager José Mourinho with two of his former charges at the Santiago Bernabéu: Raphaël Varane and Álvaro Arbeloa. The Daily Star reports that the Portuguese tactician has given the green light for Andre Schürrle and Mohamed Salah to be offloaded to finance a move for the France international defender, although Chelsea admit that any move for Varane would have to be engineered by the player as within the halls of the Bernabéu he is viewed as an important part of the team for the future.
The Daily Express has also picked up the story and report that Chelsea will enter the race for Arbeloa's signature. Mourinho has an ongoing problem in the right back position and the former Spain international is a firm favourite of the Portuguese from their time together in Madrid. However, Napoli and Liverpool, from where Arbeloa transferred to Madrid in 2009, are also interested in acquiring the 31-year-old's services.
