James Rodríguez gave an interview with Caracol Radio Turing which he answered questions about Real Madrid, Colombia, and his musical tastes.
This year you and Radamel Falcao are head-to-head for the Colombia captaincy. What attributes should a captain have?
"I'm not challenging for the captaincy. The captain right now is Falcao and that is very clear. The captain of a national team is another element to add to the group, it doesn't matter what his name is."
How will you aim to keep Colombia at the top of the world game, given that you're third in the Fifa ranking?
"Motivation is important to achieve better results. The desire for glory that this team has can help us to achieve great things."
You just received the Puskas prize for the best goal of the year. Where are the boots you wore in the Maracanã against Uruguay?
"It's a good question because I don't know where they are [laughs]. But they should be at home..."
You've played a majority of games under Ancelotti.... How does he support you?
"The coach has an excellent relationship with all the players. We are all very happy with them."
Cristiano backed you on your arrival in Madrid. Did your relationship with him help you to settle in?
"Yes, of course. That helped me a lot and he has been very important for me."
Lots of people sent you messages after you won the Puskas prize. Which stands out?
"I replied to them to thanks them for their congratulations. All of those messages were important to me."
What team do you support in Colombia?
"I used to go and watch Tolima when I was a kid, but I don't follow any team in particular. I support Envigado, which was the club I played for."
Three songs from your playlist?
"I don't have favourite songs, but I like salsa, reggaeton and vallenato, like a good Colombian."
