Gabi: "Last year was good but now we start from scratch"

Atlético Madrid captain Gabi thinks that “the team is always fine” and that he believes it is because they have “achieved this stability, especially in big games” such as Wednesday’s game against Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League, a competition in which Atleti are “excited” and starting from “scratch” after finishing as runners-up last season.

“The team is always fine. We’ve achieved this stability, especially in big games, we compete well and we will go there with the idea of producing a big performance,” he told the club’s official website during the flight to Leverkusen.

On the German side, the Atleti captain believes that “in midfield and attack they have good players” and that “they will take their chances”. Gabi believes the Bundesliga club will ensure a “very difficult game”.

“We are excited about the competition, as always. It’s an important game because we play in a competition we all want to do well in. Last year was good because we did well but this year we started from scratch,” he said.
