Luis Enrique: “I’m not interested in records, only trophies”

Luis Enrique told reporters that his players “shouldn’t get too carried away” about this evening’s 5-0 win over Levante in the post-match press conference.

Rotation policy: “The objective we set ourselves was to build an ample squad with quality and we’re very satisfied with the results. In the first half we lacked balance but later, in the second half, we were very good. Everyone wants to play their part in this and this victory really reinforces our confidence”.

Luis Suárez: “Yes, it was a great finish, after a superb run from Adriano. He connected well. And it’s come at a good time for him on a personal level; it’s good news for all of us”.

The third goal: “It came from a well-worked move. You try to do things well to put yourself in a position to score goals, and use the team’s resources and way of playing to create chances”.

Euphoria: “The players have no reason to feel euphoric; we’re not the only team involved in competition but I do love seeing the fans euphoric. That is crucial as it makes us feel optimistic that we can go on and win trophies”.

Pedro: “I don’t think he looks out of place – in fact he is bringing a lot to the team. He has been, and continues to be, a key player for us. It’s impossible to give him mnore minutes but I know that when we need him, he’ll be there. He is the kind of player who helps the team in a variety of ways – he opens up spaces, he scores… his versatility is important”.

Messi: “I’m not going to rest him while he is enjoying himself so much. When we play against teams who close up at the back, we need to create space and elaborate chances quickly. Leo’s ability to do that is key for us, he knows who to resolve our problems”.

11 straight wins, beating Guardiola’s record: “I didn’t know that we’d beaten that figure. To be honest, I’m not really interested. We can look back and evaluate what it means at the end of the season. If it means we win silverware, then great”.
