Deportivo coach Víctor Fernández pointed to the penalty his side conceded after 61 minutes as the turning point in his side’s 2-0 loss at Mestalla against Valencia.
“It’s true that they had started to press, but in the penalty incident it was not intencional. I imagine there was contact and the Valencia player helped the referee decide,” he said.
Fernández also went on to say: “After the goal we opened up and they had more space. Valencia are a dangerous side with space and an end-to-end game suited them. They are great at home and have a good chance of finishing third,” he said.
