Iker Muniain suffers a sprained knee in Sevilla clash

Iker Muniain was forced off the pitch through injury just before half-time in Athletic’s 2-0 defeat at Sevilla on Saturday. The forward was involved in a collision with Argentine Éver Banega in the 42^nd minute at the Sanchez Pizjuan and he twisted his left knee in the challenge. Muniain’s gestures seemed to point to a serious setback for the Bilbao man, who was replaced by Iraola.

During the match, the club revealed the outcome of the first medical examination through its Twitter account. “A sprain to the left knee and further tests will be made to find out its development.” These are a straining of the ligaments but more tests are needed to determine the extend of the damage and to see if there is any break.
