'O Jogo': Porto reach agreement with Alberto Bueno

Spanish striker Alberto Bueno could strengthen the Porto attack next season and at zero cost, according to the Portuguese press today, which suggests an agreement has already been reached.

Portuguese newspaper “O Jogo” has reported the story on its front page, saying a deal has been reached between the player and the club, coached by fellow Spaniard Julen Lopetegui, one of the biggest supporters of his signing.

“Bueno strengthens Porto,” says the newspaper, highlighting the fact that the player’s contract with Rayo Vallecano comes to an end in June.

The forward is the top Spanish scorer in La Liga with 16 goals so far and fifth overall in the fight for the Pichichi award.

Should the transfer go through, Alberto Bueno would work with compatriot Julen Lopetegui, who already coached the player during his days at Castilla, Real Madrid’s second team, during the 2008-09 season.

This season, Porto have enjoyed a great run in the Champions League, where they will face Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals, and in the league they sit second behind Benfica.

There is speculation that Colombian Jackson Martínez will leave the club next season, so the Portuguese giants need to turn their attentions to signing a replacement.
