Real Madrid speeding up the process to sign Gayà

Gayà is Real Madrid’s first choice to strengthen the left side of their defence ahead of next season. In recent days, Madrid have accelerated their negotiations with the left-back to try and make him their next signing following the arrival of Danilo. Representatives of Madrid have already met up with Toldrá Consulting, the agency representing the player, who rejected the first move for a renewal by Valencia which included a rise in his buyout clause, which currently stands at €18 million.

But the movements from Madrid have also alerted Manchester City and Chelsea, the other major teams who want to sign Gayà and are willing to pay his buyout clause. However, out of the two Premier League clubs the most interested in the Valencia man is City. The powers-that-be at City already know that Serbian defender Kolarov wants to leave the club and return to Italy and the Valencia defender is considered to be the ideal replacement.

And while Madrid, Chelsea and Manchester City are all set to make their moves for Gayà, Peter Lim, the owner of Valencia, has instructed Amadeo Salvo to make the defender’s contract renewal a priority. Valencia are already preparing a second offer to Toldrá Consulting after they rejected the first offer a few days ago.

Yesterday Gayà returned to train with the rest of the Valencia squad

Gayà was injured last week during a training session with Spain U21s but yesterday, Wednesday, he returned to train with the rest of the squad under orders from coach Nuno Espírito Santo. Over the last weekend, the defender has undergone intense work with the club physios to help him recover from the hamstring injury he suffered and the results have so far been positive, so much so that he could start Valencia’s Liga match against Villarreal at Mestalla on Sunday (17:00 CET). Gayà is one of the key pieces in Nuno’s team. This season he has played 27 league games, accumulating a total of 2299 minutes, 91 per cent of Valencia’s league minutes this season. He has also chipped in with one goal.
