Cristiano: one strike away from 50 goals for fifth successive season

Cristiano is constantly re-writing the record books and is one goal away from being the first the player in the history of Spanish football to score 50 goals (in all competition) over five consecutive seasons. The player from Madeira is just one goal away from this achievement, having found the net 49 times this season already (38 in La Liga, 8 goals in the Champions League, two in the European Super Cup and one the Copa del Rey.


Since his arrival at Real Madrid, in his debut season he managed a goal scoring tally of 33. From every since then, the striker has managed at least 50 goals per season. His best season to date in the goal scoring ranking was during the 2011-12 campaign. Cristiano found the net 60 times in 55 games in all competition. That personal record may be broken this season with the player on an average of 1,11 goals per game as opposed to the 1,09 of the 11-12 season.


Cristiano will tonight be aiming to secure this half century against a team who, in the past he has managed to score against on 13 occasions. His strike rate against the team from the Costa del Sol is one goal per game.
