Samu Castillejo is experiencing his most sweet days as a footballer. His explosion at the elite level and his excellent season with Málaga have been followed by his debut for Spain’s Under-21 side. This has reportedly lead to interest from a number of clubs; some of them are among the most important in Europe.
On Thursday he made his La Rojita debut and he left a great feeling. Albert Celades’ side beat Norway 2-0 and the Málaga man was one of Spain’s outstanding players.
“To play with the Under-21s was a dream and the truth is that it has been fulfilled fairly well. I had very good feelings during the 65 minutes that I played. I think that the people enjoyed a lot with our play. In addition, we achieved a good result, which was the important thing because we wanted to start with a win,” said Castillejo.
The 20-year-old shines as brightly with the Under-21s as he does with Málaga. “Right now they are all fulfilled dreams,” he added. “To debut in the Primera División with the team of my land, and now with the Under-21s. It is a dream and I have to continue fighting to continue like so.”
The Málaga-born winger also spoke about his future. His high level and the quality of his play have prompted attention from clubs such as Atlético Madrid, as AS has reported in recent months.
“My future right now is clear. I think about the national team now that I am here, and when I get back to my club, the same, I [will be] thinking about Málaga. What the future holds, you never know. I have always said it, I am happy at my team,” he concluded.
