Manuel Pellegrini was critical about the number of red cards his team have been issued in their run-ins with Barcelona. The Chilean coach previewed tomorrow’s tie between Manchester City and the Catalans.
Dismissals: "We should try to play like we did in the second half of the return leg, but for me, the most important thing is ending the game on 11 men. In one of the games (against Barça), we played the final 40 minutes on 10 men and in another, the last 15 minutes. Not that I am complaining about those dismissals – the red cards were our fault. Playing against Barcelona is complicated enough even with 11 men – with 10 it’s almost impossible. All I want is the game to be placed 11 against 11".
Yaya Touré:"I’ve always said that we are capable of playing, and winning, without Yaya but I’d prefer him to be in my team because he’s such an important player for us. All of our top players have fitness issues but they are 100 per cent focused; this is an important game for them, for the fans and for the club".
Future with City: "It’s an important game for me and for the club too. After losing the first leg, the tie is much more complicated for us now; we’re up against one the top sides in Europe but we have a good team – a hard-working team. We’ll be trying to take this forward".
Do you see City out of the tournament? "There isn’t a strange atmosphere at City, we’re still second in the Premier League; we’re a strong side and we want to show that tomorrow. I respect other people’s opinión but I don’t think my job is on the line right at this moment. I don’t feel under any pressure; I am only focused on making sure my team puts in a good performance. I’ve still got a year to run on my contract and I hope to honour it".
